In Awe of Womankind

Hello,

I am in awe of women. In awe of their stories, their courage, their beauty and their vulnerability and the dance they have to do to allow these gifts to inform how they lead in all walks of their lives, without feeling exposed or criticised for celebrating and integrating their wholeness.

I am also consistently delighted by what becomes possible when we create the conditions for us to feel safe, free from judgement and able to fully express our innate power.  Where magnificence, mystery, and magic are the order of the day, not brushed past or brushed aside as inconvenient truths.  In this place, our vast generosity flows, as we share our stories and insights, and become wise weavers of a collective tapestry that serves to hold, evolve and free us.

I had the immense privilege of sitting with a group of 15 powerful and purposeful women this weekend - all leaders in their own right. As we retreated further into our weekend together, our collective power became ever clearer: the power of Womankind and our collective identity when it's embraced and acknowledged.  The extraordinary power of creation and capacity for dynamic and lasting change, particularly when we take the time to come together in community without judgement, with compassion and openness and a true appreciation for each and every voice.

At times in our lives we have all probably had to navigate lack: the lack of a witness, the lack of someone to truly hear us, the scarcity implicit in playing smaller than we actually are. Therefore, these spaces are like a balm to the unsung soul, enabling us to soften as we start to trust just how much we all count and are welcome.

This time together also allowed us to remember the misplaced or severed parts of ourselves and reclaim aspects of our lives that have be co-opted, misappropriated or which have been determined not by our own purpose and will but by societal narratives and programmes that shackle rather than serve us.  It seemed as though no stone - from the personal to the professional - was left unturned: these were conversations we all knew we needed to be having on a regular basis.

There was a palpable relief in the room as we discussed the shift away from women regarding one another as competitors to recognising that of each one of us holds their unique part for the whole. This awareness increases our ability to support each other as an aspect of the unified system.

Service is critical, of course, and we all take great pride in our contributions, but the shadow of service is a form of servitude, in which we are in thrall to others at the cost of our true greatness and magnificence. We are not having to forge paths or blaze trails alone. If we are not resourced by each other, the cost is simply too high.  The exhaustion of carrying the burden of others is real. Instead, we remembered how to recognise and lean into the supportive feminine fabric of our collective, and cherish all that we'd woven together - every sacred stitch.

Our commitment to relax, rest and heal together was so powerful it enabled hugely competent and cerebral women to shift away from left-brain thinking into another state of being, one that is  deeply receptive. We were able to acknowledge the majesty and power of the Earth, and how we might harness such raw power, feeling Her in our bones, honouring Nature's wisdom as a felt sense and allowing Her to inform how we show up in the world.

This right brain attunement created such a calm intimacy between us and a deep nervous system reset.  Stepping into our power more fully at this time acquired a different quality.  From this refreshing point of access we gained new clarity about why we are here and what we have to offer.

The notion of leadership in all its forms was cracked open, allowing us to be guided by ever deeper levels of intuition. As female leaders we have to reclaim and re-write our leadership and, in doing so, give permission to others - as mothers, as partners, as carers, as innovators, as inventors, as activists, as business leaders and entrepreneurs.

More please, dear women. I emerge into this week feeling clear, open-hearted and full of purpose and direction. Together we put the 'kind' back into Womankind. Thank you for helping me back on the road to Remembering.

Love,

Remi

The Continuum of Exhaustion: Is Burnout the Forerunner to Bliss?
Dear ones, Across generations, burnout wears different masks. The Baby Boomers and Gen X were shaped by stoicism, productivity, and self-sacrifice, the unspoken belief that worth is earned through exhaustion. Their burnout is often silent, unassisted, marked by depletion and a quiet endurance that borders on martyrdom. Generation Z, by contrast, has the language of mental health, the permission...
Pivot with Power - Unlocking Your Value Beyond Your Job Title
Dear ones, Last week I stood on the stage at the British Film Institute, invited by dear friend Ria Hebden, founder of Wonder Women TV, to speak into a moment of deep change. The talk was called Pivot with Power and aligned beautifully with topics we discuss within the Isumataq Collective community. It was born out of whatโ€™s happening in the television industry right now, and the landscape we a...
To Die or To Cry - Integrating Ancestry, Resilience, and Grief
ย  Dear friends, August marked an important moment in our journey together. We moved into integration, weaving together the two Coaching Shorts we have been exploring: Ancestral Resilience and The Grief Reflections. In our first focus, Ancestral Resilience, we looked to the strong shoulders we stand upon, the line of those who came before us and how we could gain access to t...
